Thetford Community:
The Emergency Operations Center closed this evening at 9pm after another busy day of road assessment, damage assessment, road repairs etc. Our crews are continuing this work tomorrow on July 4th.
The only road that is 100% closed is Stevens Rd and this will remain this way for some time. All other roads have been opened up to be passable, but please continue to use EXTREME caution as many of the roads are very rough and very narrow with only one lane open. We are continuing to add caution signs, cones and barricades. Please note that the lower section of Latham in the area of Schoolhouse Hill to Turnpike has been closed to traffic due to the road continuing to crumble today. It is for your safety that this closure is in place. Please DO NOT move cones, barricades or signs.
In addition, please note that Treasure Island is still closed due to the damage and the need for water testing. This is again for your safety. We will be sure to notify our community once it is able to be opened again.
Per the Army Corps of Engineers project manager, please do not enter the Union Village Dam area through any of the gates or the trails. The area has been severely damaged, the roads are impassable and continuing to crumble, and there is still a large amount of water being held back creating a pond and over the roads in that area. This water is NOT safe as there is a tremendous amount of debris in the water including portable toilets. The gates are locked and access needs to be limited to the clean-up crews and Army Corps personnel only.
Finally, again, we thank our community for your patience and support. This will be long recovery and we will continue to provide updates while these is this emergent need.

Thank you -
